Cannabis users take their first dip in the Hunnypot
History was made in Toronto this month, as the first legal cannabis dispensary was granted a retail license from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
On April 1, The Hunny Pot Cannabis Co. became the first of ten retailers to open in the City of Toronto. The Hunny Pot’s communications officer, Cameron Brown says being in a brand-new industry, “we wanted to make sure we were doing everything right.”
And the response from cannabis consumers did not disappoint. Hundreds of customers patiently stood in staggering line-ups that stretched all around the end of the street.
Brown says the store has been busy since. “We’ve experienced such great excitement from the people, we’ve had lineups around the corner all day every day,” says Brown.
The Hunny Pot also presents customers with a unique way to shop. After making their way through the lineup, customers are greeted at the door, have their ID checked and then are matched up with their very own ‘budtender.’ Guests are then guided through the store by their designated employee and are provided with useful expertise and usage information on the products.
With nine other retailers being granted their license to open this month, Torontonians can expect to see more legal cannabis dispensaries popping up around the city in the near future.
